Gladys Eleanor Hulce, 86
Gladys Eleanor Hulce, 86 of Pierre formally of Draper passed away in Pierre at St. Marys Hospice unit, Friday January 13, 2006 following complications from hip surgery. Funeral Services were at 11 am, Wednesday, January 18 at the United Methodist Church in Murdo with Pastor Bob Duemig and Pastor Genie H. Butler officiated. Burial followed at the Draper Cemetery in Draper, SD.

[b]Lyman hosts Mid-Dakota Monster Tournament [/b]

The Lyman Wrestling Tournament The Mid-Dakota Monster was held Friday, Jan. 6th and Saturday, Jan. 7th at the Presho gym with 23 teams attending. Lyman finished in 10th place. Receiving first place was Hot Springs followed by Stanley County 2nd; Philip 3rd; Winner 4th Gettysburg 5th.

Lyman placed four wrestlers in the following weight classes; Grady Brodrecht, 119 lbs.-7th place; Logan Reuman, 135 lbs.- 6th place; Kris Anderson, 152 lbs. -5th place; Eric Halverson, 215 lbs.- 5th place. Other wrestlers winning a match were Justin Cook, 103 lbs.; Dylan Madsen, 112 lbs; Jake Longville, 125 lbs.; Tom Walling, 152 lbs; and Michael Uthe, 160 lbs.

Cordie Scholmer, Presho, was presented a plaque in recognition of his 30 years of service and dedication to the Mid-Dakota Monster. Schlomer began the tournament when he was the head coach at Lyman 30 years ago. He has been associated with the tournament ever since whether as coach or volunteer.

[b]Three-time Champion Raiders travel to Jones Co. Invitational to defend title[/b]

The Lyman Raiders will play the first game of the night session of the 38th annual Jones Co. Invitational against the Stanley Co. Buffaloes Thursday, Jan. 12.

Tournament play starts at 1 PM Thursday afternoon when White River and Kadoka tip off. Philip and Midland follow at 2:30. Lyman and Stanley Co. hit the court at 6:30 PM followed by Bennett Co. and host team Jones Co. at 8 PM.

Play will continue on Friday and Saturday. Twelve games will be played over the 3-day tournament. Doors open 45 minutes before the start of each session.
