Lyman PF Chapter plans Banquet

Posted by Lucy

Members of the Lyman County Pheasants Forever Chapter will host the annual PF Banquet the second weekend of the season instead of opening weekend, Saturday, October 22.
According to committee members, they have received requests from local members and out-of-town hunters that they would like to see a change in the date of the banquet.
“We’ll try it and if it doesn’t work we can always go back to opening weekend,” said committee member Danielle Palmer who is assisting with promotion and sponsorship collections.
The sponsorship program has also been changed this year. Rather than asking for donations of cash or merchandise, the committee developed sponsorship levels, silver- $250; gold-$500; and platinum- $1,000.  Supporters who make a contribution at one of these levels will receive various Pheasants Forever clothing, knifes, prints or plaques in appreciation for their gift.
Sponsorship letters have been sent out and Danielle encourages anyone with questions to please contact her.
The banquet will be held in Kennebec with the Lyman Band serving the meal and members of the Kennebec fire department selling refreshments.
Anyone interested in helping with the gun raffle boards or other games during the banquet may contact Palmer.
“We always need help.  In exchange for working the banquet the local chapter will pay for helper’s meal and membership at the banquet,” said Palmer.
Officers of the local PF Chapter include Cody Palmer and Craig Reuman

GLF Update: "The Miller Challenge"

Posted by Lucy

Former Presho resident, Virgil Miller, now retired and living in Sioux Falls, has issued a challenge to any current or former Lyman County resident.
Virgil has been following the progress of the Greater Lyman Foundation and believes in its purpose. He realizes GLF’s next goal is $500,000 and wants us to get there, sooner rather than later. Therefore he has issued the following challenge. If four others will pledge to give GLF $10,000 each, he will give $10,000 himself.
Virgil told GLF Chair Herb Sundall that he has some people in mind that he would like to individually challenge but does not wish to name them publically. He assumes some of them will figure out who he means, and hopes they will step forward and respond to his challenge.
Virgil would like the responders to meet his challenge by the end of 2016.
